Birdwatch on the Staiths
Join us for a peaceful morning of birdwatching to discover resident, wintering and migratory birds on the River Tyne.
Join us for a peaceful morning of birdwatching at Dunston Staiths, a historic connection to our coal industry heritage, and a prime location for watching a diversity of resident and wintering birds on the River Tyne.
You will be birdwatching from the paths around the Staiths Tidal Basin, led by knowledgeable guides who undertake Wetland Bird Surveys in the area, you will search for species such as Grey Heron, Curlew, Lapwing, Cormorant, Redshank, Gulls and anything else we can spot!
There will be plenty of opportunities to discover more about the local history and ecology of the birds you encounter, and to the importance of the Tyne Estuary for wildlife.
All species will be recorded as part of ongoing wildlife survey effort along the Tyne Derwent Way.
