Riverside Routes: Origami Bag Making with Amy Trainor
Join textile designer Amy Trainor for a workshop where you will create your own origami bag! Adults only. £5.
Amy is the founder of Kaleidoscope, a sustainable bag and fashion accessory brand. She works with high-quality, bold, bright fabric to create bags and accessories.
In this sewing workshop, you will draw inspiration from nature, water and the natural world to create your item. Throughout the session, you will use a computerised sewing machine, working will step by step, alongside Amy to create your own origami bag with complimentary lining and a sturdy handle.
This stylish origami style bag is a similar size to a tote bag and will be big enough to hold everyday essentials!
All materials and equipment will be provided on the day.
You will learn how to do the following:
- thread a sewing machine/wind a bobbin
- cut out an origami bag pattern
- sew pattern pieces accurately and top stitch using a computerised sewing machine
- fold the fabric using an origami technique and sew in position
- make a handle and attach to the bag
The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those who have prior sewing experience.
Adults only.
There will be a 30-minute break for lunch, please bring a packed lunch or visit the cafe in the library.
