Discover the Tyne Derwent Way by bus or bike

Maybe you want to walk or run the whole nine miles of the Tyne Derwent Way but not back again. Or perhaps you'd like to drop in to see places along the route on a bike ride or using public transport.

To help you to enjoy and experience Gateshead's green getaway your way, we've put together this car-free travel guide, with more information about the bus routes, bike stops and taxi ranks along the trail.

Gateshead

To start off your adventure in Gateshead, have a look at Gateshead Interchange for connections to a range of locations around the North East.

If you want to get from one end of the route to the other, we recommend catching the X66 Supershuttle towards the Metro Centre and from there getting the 47 Red Kite Ranger towards Station Road, just outside Gibside. Look out for the iconic red kite artwork on the bus!
