Shape the Tyne Derwent Way - your way!
But this is just the beginning for Gateshead's green getaway. We need local people to help shape the Way for everyone to enjoy, now and for future generations, so that it's something we can all be proud of.
What would you do?
The Tyne Derwent Way is far more than just a trail along our two rivers. With funding from national government, we offer a programme of events and activities, and are restoring, refurbishing and developing places for local people and communities to enjoy.
We need people from local communities to join our Community Steering Group and have a say in how we improve local infrastructure and spend our budget in the best possible ways.
What changes would you like to see along the Tyne Derwent Way? What would you improve?
Join the Community Steering Group
Could you help us to form a steering group that reflects Gateshead's diverse population? Could you represent your community and champion the things that matter to them?
As a member of the Community Steering Group, you'll be involved in discussions around spending over the next nine months, and have a say about what happens after this round of funding.
We have six people in the group and need another six. The group will meet once a month, and there are three board meetings, where the Community Steering Group will join people from our partner organisations.
Whenever we meet, we'll pay travel expenses and provide food.
What next?
If you're interested, let us know. The first step is filling in this application form, and then we'll get in touch. We'd love to meet you for a chat and get to know more about you. The form will ask you which volunteer role you're applying for: tick 'community steering group' for this volunteering opportunity, and feel free to tick any others you're interested in!
