Climate Champions
Become a Tyne Derwent Way Climate Champion! These exciting new sessions have been created for young people (with parents/ guardians) with a special interest in local wildlife and the natural environment.
Led by Wild Intrigue, you will discover everything from bird and minibeast identification, to top tips in protecting local wildlife.
As part of the session, each child will receive a Climate Champions backpack full of naturalist equipment to take home and keep, to continue their discovery of wildlife. Each backpack contains specially selected items such as identification guides and binoculars, which Wild Intrigue will show young Climate Champions how to use during the session.
Beginning at St Mary's Heritage Centre, you will take a mini urban wildlife safari around these historic church grounds, using Climate Champions backpack equipment to discover and learn about hidden wildlife, including the most inland colony of Kittiwakes in the world - right on our doorstep!
Suitable for children in Key Stage two (7 to 11).
Sessions are limited to 8 children plus accompanying adults. Parents/ guardians are required to stay with their children throughout the full session.
